I started playing guitar when I was fourteen. Sometime before I started, a Black Sabbath album landed in my CD player. From there, my addiction to rock music grew to include Metallica. I started guitar so I could play Metallica and Sabbath tunes.
When college time rolled around, it seemed like a good idea to go to school for music. That’s when classical guitar entered the picture. One semester and a piece by Leo Brouwer later and I was hooked.
School worked out well for me. I earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Drake University, and went on to get a Master of Music degree from Austin Peay State University where I studied with Stanley Yates.
I’m current making my way in the classical guitar world in Fort Worth, TX. I’m working on a Doctoral degree at the University of North Texas, teaching about 20 students a week, and performing as much as I can.
