I can highly recommend doing some competitions: It's not only about winning. There is great benefit in preparing works and learning to handle nerves. In trying to do the best that you can. Plus it's interesting to meet other guitarists and hear their interpretations.

Dear Christopher!

Considering your definition of professional, I have to agree with you to a certain extent.
But many people consider professional to mean a certain kind of excellence.

Considering your age (which I didn't know, by the way), makes it understandable that you haven't yet done most things on that list.

But I wish you the very best of success!

-Ed

PS: Why would you not release a recording with a label? What if you get an offer from Deutsche Grammophon, or Sony Classical?

Professional: engaged in a profession or engaging in as a profession or means of livelihood.

What do any of the things on your list have to do with being a professional? Is that your definition of success? It's not really mine, but I'm sure I'll do some things on that list. Others I won't do (like releasing a CD with a label). I'm only 23, after all, and I've only been playing guitar for 9 years (5.5 classical guitar). The fact that you know who I am, even if you don't like me, is a small (very small, considering who you are: an imaginary person too afraid to leave his own name or email!) success.

Have a nice day.

Hi Christopher!

I see your calling yourself a professional (!) guitarist now.

... so ...
you've been invited to perform in which guitar festivals?
you've performed Concierto de Aranjuez under the baton of ... with which orchestra?
you've given lectures about which topics?
your academic university thesis was on which topic?
you've edited which guitar editions?
you've won how many guitar competitions?
you've had how many articles published in "Classical guitar magazine" or "Soundboard"?
you've performed your American debut at Carnegie Hall when exactly?
your latest CD was released on which label?
you've been invited to give masterclass courses at which institutions?

Just something to think about!
