Bach Practicing

Recorded during practicing to see see what was going on with my Bach presto. Needs more bass! A few flubs here and there as well.

Great playing Chris! Nice and clean and at a very reasonable tempo. I reckon you could improve the overall interpretive arc of the piece by focussing your ear on the bass line rather than getting too involved in what is happening at the top. I know that is a hard ask as that is where all the action is a lot of the time. I get the feeling with many of the bass notes that they are played merely because they appear on the score rather than to drive the piece. If you listen to John Williams Bach you will hear the way he shapes the bass line so beautifully hence the brilliance of his interpretations.

I agree! I need to pay attention to the bass in all of the movements of this suite.

My comment in class still seems to be true to me. If you use a sharper bass sound, more to the side/edge of your thumb it will achieve the desired affect. Bass line is there, just needs character. Has to many similar tonal qualities to your trebles. That being said I like your Bach, it always makes sense to my ear. :)
